TCL to Downsize European TV Operations

Chinese TCL plans to terminate most of its television operations in Europe and restructure TTE (TCL-Thomson Electronics) by late November, its joint venture with French Thomson. Sales and marketing of television products will gradually be ceased; sales units in the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, and Sweden will also be restructured. However, the existing OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) business in Europe will be further expanded. TCL's license to use the Thomson brand and both parties' outsourcing agreement concerning Thomson's Angers factory will be shortened as well.
